She hit .280 in 1943, .319 in 1945 and .340 in 1950. She was also one of the best pitchers in the league her first 3 seasons, winning 26 games in 1943 and 23 games in 1944. I'd be curious why she sat out 2 seasons during her career and retired after her best season in 1950. Was it family obligations, was it contractual or was it injuries?
