1946 San Francisco Seals vs Sacramento Solons Program. Very nice 24 page program. The 1946 Seals are among the greatest minor league teams of all time with many stars back from the service. Larry Jansen won 31 games. The Seals also had Ferris Fain, Bill Werle, Cliff Melton, Jack Tobin, Bernie Uhalt, Roy Nicely, Hugh Luby, Vince DiMaggio, Dino Restelli, Lefty O'Doul, Neill Sheridan, Sal Taormina, Al Lien, Bones Sanders, Ted Jennings, Joe Brovia, Del Young etc... Sacromento had Tony Freitas, Joe Marty, Steve Mesner, Alex Kampouris etc.. The score page is loose at the staples and has a 2 inch tear in the center. The score page has a Joe DiMaggio's restaurant ad on the Solons score page and a Tony Lazzeri's restaurant ad on the Seals score page. Very nice condition. Ex+ $50

Seattle also has Jo Jo White, Rollie Hemsley, Hillis Layne, Earl Rapp, Neill Sheridan, Tony York, Johnny O'Neil, Mickey Grasso, Lou Novikoff, Guy Fletcher, Bud Beasley, Herm Besse etc.. Oakland won the PCL championship guided by Casey Stengel with it's famous "nine old men" including Ernie Lombardi, Billy Raimondi, Nick Etten, Dario Lodigiani, Brooks Holder, Mel Duezabou, Maurice Van Robays, Les Scarsella, George Metkovich, Billy Martin, Merl Combs and Cookie Lavagetto. The program has a center fold and a small hole on the front cover. Otherwise condition is excellent. Ex+ $40

1948 Los Angeles Angels Major League Exhibition Game Scorecard, at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles. This scorecard/program was originally for an exhibition game between the Cubs and Indians however the person who attended the game and scored the program wrote in National and American League line-ups that included Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Vern Stephens, Red Rolfe, Tom Henrich, Charlie Keller, Billy Herman and Vic Raschi for the Americans and Stan Hack, Jackie Robinson, Stan Musial, Al Dark, Gil Hodges, Bobby Thomson, Ernie Lombardi and Barney McCosky for the Nationals. Perhaps both games were played on the same day. The Nationals won 8-3. The front cover has a 2" tear, the spine is split and repaired with vintage tape. Vg+ $45

1951 San Francisco Seals vs Seattle Rainiers Program, Lefty O'Doul's Seals versus Rogers Hornsby's Rainiers. Seattle won the PCL title with Jim Rivera, Granny Hamner, Walt Judnich, Marv Grissom and Emil Verban. San Francisco had Con Dempsey, Lew Burdette, Dario Lodigiani etc.. 1951 was Lefty O'Doul last season with the Seals, he went on to manage San Diego, Oakland and Vancouver. The program has a light center fold but is very nice otherwise. Scored. Ex/Mt $40

1953 San Francisco Seals Press Guide. 48 pages. Very similar to a year book. Loaded with information. The only photo is Joe Grace who graces the cover. Has complete bio's & stats for every player on the team including a full team roster. Has 1952 Seals statistics and all time Seals records. Reviews every team in the PCL. Has the Seals 1953 schedule including their spring training schedule. 4x8 in size. Has staining on the cover, superb condition otherwise. Ex/Mt $65 sold

1932 Oakland Oaks Payroll Check for Art Koehler, Signed by V.A. Devincinzi on front and Art Koehler on back. Art Koehler is one of the greatest Pacific Coast League catchers of all time playing 12 seasons from 1930 to 1943 with Sacramento, Portland and Oakland. With Sacramento he batted .356 in 1923, .341 in 1924 and .344 in 1929. He passed away in 1960 making his autograph exceptionally rare. Superb condition. Ex/Mt+ $125

1930's-40's Babe Herman Original Pen & Ink Cartoon by Tom Graf. Original 11 1/2" x 14 1/2" drawing of Babe Herman published in Los Angeles newspapers when Babe played with the Hollywood Stars (1939-44). Babe ended up playing 13 major league seasons compiling a .324 lifetime batting average. This is an original pen and pencil drawing signed by the artist. Has newspaper editing marks on the back. Babe had an outstanding career with the Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds from 1926-37 hitting over .300 nearly every season. In 1930 Babe hit .393 with 35 home runs and 130 RBI's. After playing 6 seasons with the Hollywood Stars (from 1939-44) Babe came back and played one more season with Brooklyn in 1945 at the age of 42. An incredible original cartoon. Fantastic condition. 1940 Pacific Coast League Record Book, 64 pages. Crammed with incredible information including a 17 page league history. Has league and team records. Outstanding condition Nr/Mt $65

1944 Cliff Chambers US Army Photo. 8x10. Cliff "Lefty" Chambers is standing with Army teammates Capt. Bill Brenner and Sgt. Tony Inso in front of the Fort Wright baseball field scoreboard in Washington state. Chambers sent this photo to Brenner while Brenner was playing with the Los Angeles Angels in 1945. Chambers and Brenner were teammates with the Los Angeles Angels in 1946 and Chambers won 24 games in 1947. Chambers played with the Cubs, Pirates and Cardinals during the 1940's-50's. Chambers autographed the photo on the front and wrote a letter to Don Brenner on the back noting that he had 40 strikeouts in 2 games pitching for the US Army team in 1945. Outstanding condition. Great detailed roster includes Hal Turpin, Guy Fletcher, Johnny Babich, Byron Speece, Roy Johnson, George McDonald, Ted Norbert, Joe Dobbins etc.. Also lists Rainier players serving in the military. Autographed 1945 San Francisco Seals Most Valuble Player Advertisement, Sponsered by Siegels Menswear Gus Suhr was voted the team MVP. The final tally is displayed with Suhr receiving 5882 votes, Joe Sprinz receiving 5401 voted and Frenchy Uhalt third with 3976 votes. Gus Suhr autographed the ad notating S.F. Seals 1926-29 and 1943-45. A wonderful item. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Ex/Mt $65

1945 San Francisco Seals Roster Page Autographed by Neill Sheridan and Elmer Orella. 6.5x7. The Seals had a great war time team in 1945 with veteran players Gus Suhr, Bernie Uhalt, Emil Mailho and Bob Joyce. Autographed by Elmer Orella and PCL great Neill Sheridan. Has corner crease, otherwise very nice. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Ex+ $25

1946 Lefty O'Doul Day Broadside Sign. 11x17 cardboard sign advertising "Lefty O'Doul's Kid's Day" at Seals Stadium. This was an annual event as long as Lefty was with the Seals. Sunday September 1st was a double header versus the Los Angeles Angels. The 1946 Seals are one of the greatest minor league teams of all time with many star players back from serving during WW2. The sign is in excellent condition with 2 light tears on the bottom border, a small water stain on the upper left corner and a few very light creases. The sign has been drymounted to 1/4 inch foam board. Truly an exceptional item. Ex/Mt $250

1948 Batter Up Booklet, Nice 48 page booklet measuring 5 x 7 1/2 inches. Has instructional articles on how to play baseball by Lefty O'Doul and Joe Cronin. Has the 1948 PCL schedule. Has a forward by PCL president Clarence "Pants" Rowland. The only flaw of note is water staining, mostly on the back pages. Very nice otherwise. Ex+ $35

Jack Graham Autographed 1951 Yearbook Photo. 7x9 1951 San Diego Padres yearbook page nicely signed and personalized. Graham led the PCL with 48 home runs in 1948 and missed nearly 2 months due to a bean ball injury. He was a lock for 60 plus home runs that year! No tears or creases. 1951 Lefty O'Doul and Ed Cereghino Wire Photo. 7x9 wire photo showing Doc Hughes rubbing down 17 year old Ed Cereghino's arm after his second professional game in which he beat the league leading Rainiers 3-2. Ed was the biggest bonus baby in Seals history but injuries curtailed his career. Has a few light wrinkles. Ex $45

The San Francisco Seals moved to Phoenix in 1958 then moved to Tacoma in 1960 in a brand new ballpark that featured seats, light standards & scoreboard from razed Seals stadium. The 1960 Tacoma Giants had several old Seals players including Bill Werle, Sal Taormina etc.. but more impressively had numerous future Giants stars including hall of famers Willie McCovey, Juan Marichal & Gaylord Perry. The Rainiers were the reigning 1939, 1940 and 1941 PCL champions and had a great team including Paul Gregory, Hal Turpin, Dick Gyselman, Earl Torgeson, Dick Barrett, Syl Johnson, Ed Carnett, Dewey Soriano, Jo Jo White, Al Libke. 1932 Oakland Oaks Payroll Check for Art Koehler, Signed by V.A. Devincinzi on front and Art Koehler on back. Art Koehler is one of the greatest Pacific Coast League catchers of all time playing 12 seasons from 1930 to 1943 with Sacramento, Portland and Oakland. With Sacramento he batted .356 in 1923, .341 in 1924 and .344 in 1929. He passed away in 1960. Exceptionally rare. Superb condition. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Ex/Mt+ $95

1932 Oakland Oaks Payroll Check for Fay Thomas, Signed by V.A. Devincinzi on front and Fay Thomas on back. Fay Thomas is one of the greatest pitchers in Pacific Coast League history playing 14 seasons from 1919 to 1932 with Sacramento, Portland, Oakland, Hollywood and Los Angeles. In 9 seasons with the Angels he won 28, 23, 20, 18, 17 and 15 games with a career best 28-4 in 1934. His first season in the Coast League was 1930 with Sacramento, a year in which he led the league inb strikeouts and won 18 games. Superb condition. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Ex/Mt+ $75

Autographed 1945 San Francisco Seals Most Valuble Player Advertisement, Sponsered by Siegels Menswear Gus Suhr was voted the team MVP. The final tally is displayed with Suhr receiving 5882 votes, Joe Sprinz receiving 5401 voted and Frenchy Uhalt third with 3976 votes. Gus Suhr autographed the ad notating S.F. Seals 1926-29 and 1943-45. A wonderful item. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Ex/Mt $65

Roy Carlyle Signed Check. Carlyle had a distinguished career in both the Major Leagues and the Pacific Coast League. His career in the Major Leagues was short but he played for 3 teams including the 1926 Yankees and compiled a .318 lifetime batting average. His most notable acheivment came in 1929 while playing for the Oakland Oaks when he hit the longest home run in baseball history-618 feet. This home run is well documented. Carlyle's brother Cleo is one of the all time PCL greats. Roy Carlyle died in 1956. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Ex/Mt $75

Jim and Wally Westlake Pennant. I had this beautiful 1920's Westlake School (Los Angeles) pennant and I got the idea to have the Westlake brothers, who were both star players in the Pacific Coast League during the 1940's-50's, to autograph it. Not only did they nicely autograph the pennant, they also noted the years and teams they played for. Wally Westlake was a long time star in the big leagues as well. Wally Westlake noted: "Oakland 1942-46-55, Pittsburgh 1947-51, St. Louis 1951-52, Cleveland 1952-55, 1951 All-Star, 1954 World Series" and Jim Westlake noted: "S.F. Seals 1949-50-54, Philadelphia (Phillies) 1955, Sacto (Sacramento) 1956-58, Portland 1959". This huge 36" pennant turned out to be a fantastic piece. Has a worn tip and very light mothing, otherwise superb condition. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Ex/Mt $125

Louie Almada Autographed Bat. Very nice vintage bat autographed by 1920's-30's PCL star Louie Almada. Louie played with Hollywood, Seattle and Mission from 1928-37 . Faber had batted over .300 his first 3 pro seasons (1948-50). He dipped below .300 for the first time in 1951 but had a career high in home runs, earning his way to the PCL. Superb condition. 1956 Pacific Coast League Player Assignment Agreement Signed by San Diego GM Ralph Kiner. This document states that Cliff Ross was sold by the Vancouver Mounties to the San Diego Padres for $1000 cash. Ross played with the Cincinnati Reds in 1954 but remained in the low minors throughout 1956 before finishing his career with Syracuse of the Eastern League in 1957. Great condition. $95

1958 Glenn McMinn Phoenix Giants Playing contract. Signed twice by McMinn and Phoenix General Manager W.P. "Rosy" Ryan. The San Francisco Seals moved to Phoenix after the 1957 season. Rosy Ryan pitched with the New York Giants from 1919-24 appearing in 3 World Series. He also pitched for the Yankees, Braves and Dodgers from 1925-33 and was the Minor League executive of the year in 1961. McMinn also played with the 1957 Los Angeles Angels. Nr/Mt $50
