Click on highlighted title to view selection. 1935 Portland Beavers Team Signed Baseball, Approximately 19 signatures on a very rare red and black stitched Ken-Wel "Coast League" baseball. I have never heard of Ken-Wel baseballs being used in the Pacific Coast League so I imagine they were used for less than one season. One panel has fairly bold signatures. All the other panels have light signatures. The one signifigant flaw is a burn mark that goes through the leather (see scan). The bold panel has Bill Cissell, Jake Wade, Dick Schulz, Goldie Holt and Harry Rice and with the aid of a roster I can also make out: Spurgeon Chandler, Hobo Carson, Harry Davis, Nino Bongiovanni, Bill Posedel, Moose Clabaugh and Bill Radonits. Overall about a 2-3 condition. Comes with certificate of authenticity. $95 1941 London Pirates, 15 signatures on official PONY League (Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York League) ball including future big leaguers Jim Jordan and Vic Barnhart. This ball is from the collection of former Major Leaguer Vic Barnhart. Vic's father Clyde Barnhart was a star with the Pittsburgh Pirates throughout the 1920's including the 1925 and 1927 World Series teams. Vic's brother Bob was a teammate on the 1941 London Pirates. Stunning condition. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Ex/Mt+ $95 sold 1940's Pacific Coast League Autographed Baseball. 12 light signatures on a 1940's Clarence Rowland Pacific Coast League baseball. Ralph Kiner on sweet spot. Extremely faint signatures include Ed Fernandes, Wally Westlake, Eddie Lake, Ralph Kiner, George Metkovich, Casey Stengel, Billy Rigney, Jerry Coleman, Bruce Edwards, Duane Pillette etc.. Overall signatures grade 1, ball grades 5 out of 10. Comes with certificate of authenticity. $65 sold Early 1940's San Francisco-Oakland Shipyard League team signed baseball. 11 signatures on Ford Frick National League Baseball including former PCL players Elmer "Spec" Shea and Harry Green. Others include Ray Viani, H C Skow, Lefty Gallagher, Babe Matteri, William Hampshire, Tony Karsuzick, Joe Miller, Bill Solari etc.. Elmer "The Original" Spec Shea played with Sacramento and Oakland for 8 seasons from 1921-28 and Harry Green played with Mission and Hollywood for 4 seasons from 1928-31. Ex/Mt $150 1943 Hutchison Pirates, 17 signature on official Western Association ball including Walter Holke (1917 World Series). Ball is shellacked and is a dark golden brown. "Vic" is written above labeling. Labeling is strong, signatures are light to medium. This ball comes from the collection of former Major Leaguer Vic Barnhart. Vic's signature is not present on this ball, just his printed first name. He was a member of this team. Vic's father Clyde Barnhart was a star with the Pittsburgh Pirates throughout the 1920's including the 1925 and 1927 World Series teams. Other signatures include Harmon Killebrew and Hall of Fame umpire Larry Napp are on the sweet spot. Additionally I can make out Jose Tartabull, Bud Dailey, Joe Pepitone and Bernie Allen. 1911 Raised Embossed Baseball Postcard Autographed by Joe Hauser. I had Joe Hauser sign this beautiful postcard several years ago because he grew up near Randolph Wisconsin where this card is postmarked and was playing baseball as a youth in 1911. The postcard is an incredibly detailed embossed relief postcard showing a pitcher with 3 players behind him and wooden stands full of people. Carlyle had a distinguished career in both the Major Leagues and the Pacific Coast League. His career in the Major Leagues was short but he played for 3 teams including the 1926 Yankees and compiled a .318 lifetime batting average. His most notable acheivment came in 1929 while playing for the Oakland Oaks when he hit the longest home run in baseball history-618 feet. This home run is well documented. 1. Artie Wilson, 1940's unendorsed glove superbly autographed and noted: "NAL All-Star 1944-46-47-48, Hit .402 in 1948". Artie, along with Monte Irvin is one of the 2 greatest living Negro League players. He played with the Birmingham Barons during the 1940's. He played with the New York Giants in 1951 and was the first black star in the Pacific Coast League and is a member of the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame. Outstanding. Comes with a certificate of authenticity. RHT Ex/Mt $145 2. Mel Parnell, 1940's unendorsed glove beautifully autographed and noted: "25-7 1949, 21-8 1953, No-Hitter 1956". Parnell is one of the greatest pitchers in Red Sox history. The glove is in superb condition. Comes with certificate of authenticity. RHT Ex/Mt $95 sold 3. Cecil Travis, unendorsed 1920's-30's fielders glove beautifully autographed by Cecil Travis. Cecil also noted: Senators 1933-47, 1938, 40 & 41 All-Star and .314 Lifetime Average. Cecil has long been rumored to be a Veterans Committee choice for the Hall of Fame. Cecil had his career cut short by 4 1/2 years served during WW2 in which he was injured during the Battle of the Bulge. The glove is in superb condition with piping wear in back. Cecil began to autograph it in black ink then wrote over it with silver ink. Comes with a certificate of authenticity. RHT Ex/Mt $125 4. Bob Doerr, unendorsed 1930's baseball glove nicely autographed in silver sharpie by Boston Red Sox great Bobby Doerr. Doerr played with Boston from 1937-51 and was a 9 time All-Star. In addition to being the best fielding second baseman in the American League he also hit 223 home runs. His finest season was in 1950 when he hit 27 home runs with 120 RBI's and led the league in fielding but a bad back forced his retirement the following year. Nice 1930's fielder's glove. Lonny Frey, unendorsed 1940's MacGregor Goldsmith fielders glove. A nice softball style glove boldly autographed by Lonny on the front and also noted: "1939-40-47 World Series". Lonny played from 1933 to 1948 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds and the New York Yankees. An outstanding shortstop and second baseman, Lonny was a 3 time All-Star, he led the league in fielding twice and was a very good hitter as well. Comes with certificate of authenticity. RHT Ex/Mt+ $95 7. Claude Passeau, unendorsed 1930's-40's fielders glove. Passeau nicely autographed the glove on the back side. Passeau was one of the great National League pitchers during the 1930's and 40's. He pitched with Pittsburgh in 1935, the Phillies from 1936-39 and reached stardom with the Cubs from 1939-47. He was a 5 time All-Star. The glove has light surface cracking in a few areas but retains a very nice patina and displays especially nicely from back. The only labeling visible states: For all softball games". Comes with certificate of authenticity. RHT Vg+ $110 8. Bill Werber, unendorsed 1920's-30's fielders glove. Nicely autographed on the front side. Werber was an outstanding 3rd baseman who began his career with the Yankees in 1930. He also played with the Red Sox 1933-36, the A's 1937-38, the Reds 1939-41, the Giants 1942 and he played in the 1939 and 1940 World Series. Comes with certificate of authenticity. RHT Ex $95 9. Bill Rogell, unendorsed Spalding 311. Nice 1930's-40's softball glove signed twice by Rogell. One of the finest shortstops in the Major Leagues from 1925-40. Played on the Tigers Championship teams of 1934-35 and was part of the "Million Dollar Infield" with Charlie Gehringer, Hank Greenberg and Marv Owen. The initials B.R. are inscribed on back (not Rogell's glove). Comes with certificate of authenticity. RHT Vg/Ex $110 10. Buddy Lewis, unendorsed 1930's-40's Parvey 20F. A smaller light tan glove boldly autographed. Lewis broke in with the Washington Senators in 1935. Lewis quickly became one of the brightest young stars in the American League. By age 20 he established himself as a star and seemed well on his way to the hall of fame but World War 2 interupted and he spent nearly 4 years in the service. Injuries shortened his career. In 1947 Lewis was 30 years old, it was his last full year in the big leagues and he made the All-Star team that year. Comes with COA. RHT Ex/Mt $95 11. Eddie Mayo, unendorsed 1930's Banner softball glove boldly autographed on back by Eddie Mayo. Mayo played in the 1936 and 1945 World Series and was an All-Star in 1943. Ex $110 1. Gus Suhr, Spectacular 1930's Denkert "Gus Suhr" model nicely autographed by the one time National League "Iron Man" record holder. Gus Suhr's 922 consecutive games played stood until the 1950's when Stan Musial broke it. One of the National Leagues most consistent first baseman, Suhr broke in with the Pirates with a bang in 1930 with 14 triples, 17 home runs and 107 RBI's. He averaged about 35 doubles, 14 triples, 10 home runs and 90+ RBI's during a 9 year span. He was also one of the leagues best fielders. Gus began his career with the 1925 San Francisco Seals and 18 years later came out of retirement to play with the Seals again in 1943-45, batting .311 and winning team MVP honors in 1945, his last pro season. Duane is the son of Herm Pillette and was born in Detroit in 1922 the same year his father won 19 games for the Tigers. Duane pitched for 8 seasons in the majors (1949-56) with the Yankees, Browns, Orioles and Phillies.
