The medal has the RRV symbol and "All Heil" on the front and on the back are two hallmarks, the winners name and a roman numeral "2" with PR after that. 1898 Gold Cycling Medal. Absolutely superb gold cycling medal from Riga, Latvia. The engraving on back is in German, which was the language of the upper classes in Riga until the Russian revolution. This medal is in pure high quality gold and is for an important race. Engraved on the back is: "Stund Record" and gives the cyclists name, date and race time. Stund Record means event record or something to that effect. Overall measurement is 7/8" x 1 1/2". The RRV on front stands for the Riga Cycling Club. A truly awesome and historic item. Excellent/Mint $495

1900 Cycling Medal. Enameled silver/bronze. Out of the entire collection this is the only one with Russian writing. I had a nearly identical medal with German writing.
